- Remove the sleeve and clamps from the valve.
- Position the clock as shown in the figure, so that the clock’s stem rests on the tip of the valve stem.
- Reset the clock.
- We apply pressure to the valve.
- Once the gauge reads the displacement specified in the tables (see the exploded view in the Garrett catalog), record the pressure and check that it falls within the required range.
- Release the pressure and check that the gauge returns to zero.
- If the pressure is incorrect, turn the stem and check again; repeat this process as many times as necessary until the desired pressure is achieved.

Note: When the distance is shortened, pressure increases; when it is lengthened, pressure decreases.
Operating an engine with an improperly calibrated turbocharger valve can result in a loss of power or serious engine damage.
